2Instructions For each broiler shown, pick keep or
cull. If you decide to cull a bird, then you must
choose the reason you decided to cull the bird.
Competition Tip Handle the birds and make them
move around. A bird laying down may have a leg
defect only noticeable when the bird is

16Handling a Chicken in Competition
Gently place your hand under the bird and give it
a lift upwards. This handling will allow you to
discern if the broilers have any leg disorders.a
common reason for culling.
