Our Organism was found in Bakers pond on
11/11/03 in the open water.

Description of water boatman

• Size1.5mm to 15mm
• Color dark brown color
• of legs six legs
• How moved fins on one set of legs
• Unusual features hair on back of legs to help
  swim. They look like a beetle with oars.

Interesting facts

• Feeds on mainly insect larva and dead plant and
  animal matter.
• They live in a still slow flowing ponds in the
  open water.
• It can leave the pond easily by flying to another
  pond if gets low or polluted.
• Carries oxygen supply in form of a bubble. The
  air bubble makes it hard for him to stay
  submerged and makes it appear silvery.
• It feeds by scraping food towards his beak with
  his two front.
• Male attracts female by scraping his beak with
  his two front legs.
