Physical Properties

• A physical property of matter can be observed or
  measured without changing the identity of the
  matter.
• You do not have to change the object in any way
  to observe its physical properties.

• Volume
• Thermal conductivity
• State
• Malleability
• Ductility
• Solubility
• Density

Spotlight on Density

• Remember, density is the amount of matter in a
  given space or volume.
• Density Mass
• Volume
• You can use density to identify substances.

Liquids and Density

• When two or more liquids that are not soluble in
  one another are put in the same container, the
  more dense one settles to the bottom. For
  example, if you mix oil and vinegar, the vinegar
  settles to the bottom.
