• plains, valleys, hills, mountains, volcanoes, and
  plateaus

  location over a long period of time weather
• Examples include
• dry, humid, hot, cold, rainy

• the plants of an area or a region plant life
• Examples include
• shrubs, bushes, and small trees

One of the major regions in Texas is the

• Coastal Plains
• It covers 1/3 of the land of Texas. It covers
  the southeast part of Texas.
• It major landforms are
• bays, wetlands, and barrier islands. It is flat
  and
• low. Its good soils along rivers are great for
  farming.
• Its climate is
• hot and damp, humid
• has tornadoes and hurricanes
• averages 30-55 inches of rain per year

• Its vegetation consists of
• pine trees, hardwood trees (elm, oak,
  cottonwood, pecan)
• Its major cities are
• Austin
• Houston
• Dallas (on the border of Central Plains)
• San Antonio
• The Rio Grande is located here.

• Lowland Plains
• It covers the central part of Texas
• Its major landforms include
• gentle hills
• Rolling grassy lands
• Thick grasses
• Its climate is
• Dry air
• Tornadoes
• 20-30 inches of rain per year

• large areas of hardwood trees
• Its major cities are
• Fort Worth
• Abilene
• Wichita Falls
• San Angelo

• It covers the upper (north) part of Texas, most
  of the Panhandle and Edwards Plateau. It is dry
  land with very few trees.
• Its major landforms are
• Canyons in the north
• Higher elevation than Central Plains
• Its climate is
• Dry air
• Hot summers and cold winters
• Dust storms
• 16-20 inches of rain per year

• Its vegetation consists of
• Few trees
• Short grasses
• Mesquite, cedar, pecan, and oak trees in Edward
  Plateau area
• Its major cities are
• Amarillo
• Lubbock
• It is home to the Edwards Plateau

• 150 mountains in the mountain ranges
• Plateaus and basins
• Deserts
