CCBOE Credit Recovery Student Orientation

• graduate ON TIME!

What is Credit Recovery?

• An opportunity to recover 0.5 credit in a core
  area course that you have previously failed
• Classes are entirely on-line through GaVirtual
  School. This is a self paced, teacherless class.
• This allows you to demonstrate the knowledge you
  have and only work on the parts of the curriculum
  you have not mastered.
• Post-tests and the final exam or EOCT determine
  your final grade.

• You will take a pre-test for each unit. Your
  score dictates how much work is required for each
  unit.
• 85-100 Pretest Go straight to the post-test
• Below 85 Pretest Do all work, lessons,
  quizzes and then post-test
• You will post-test for each unit and pass it
  before attempting the next unit. You have 3
  chances to pass each post-test.
• Your final exam or EOCT will be 15 of your final
  grade

Failed a post-test 3 times

• See Mrs. Powell or one of the afterschool
  proctors to have your test reset!
• Tests will not be reset after 3 attempts until
  you have spent more time reviewing the material.
• NO pre or post tests may be taken from home!!!!!
• If pre or post tests are taken from home they
  will be invalidated and you must retake them.

Weekly Proctoring Sessions

• There are 4 sessions when teachers are available
  to you. You may attend 1 or all 4 sessions each
  week.
• Location Math Computer Lab
• What Time 300-400
• Monday Coach Grooms
• Tuesday Mrs. Griswell
• Wednesday Mrs. Dent
• Thursday Ms. Middlebrooks

What is expected of me?

• Each pretest, posttest AND final exam must be
  taken in the presence of a proctor.
• You must attend the afterschool session to take
  those tests! The only exception is for students
  who are assigned online for their Power Period.
• You must keep a portfolio or notebook dedicated
  to this course.
• You may be asked to verify your work so keeping
  record of your work is important!

December 4

• This is the final day to take your final exam.
  You may take it BEFORE this date by NOT after.
• December 4 at 400 you will be withdrawn from the
  class and NO refund given.
• EOCTs will be taken as quickly as possbile once a
  course is completed.

Graduation Coach

• I will monitor your classes and see that you are
  working Monday Friday.
• Phone home when I see any problems with the class
  work getting done.
• Check your time logged on.
• Fix any technical problems you might have.
• Help you in any way be successful with your
  credit recovery class.
• Report all problems to me!
