  self-gratification

True Harms of Pornography

• 1. Pornography promotes the mis-use of sexuality
  for the sake of self-gratification, obstructing
  the God-ordained intention that human individuals
  would be healthy and well-balanced living in
  community (Gn. 218).
• When sex is consistently used other than the
  expression of giving of self between spouses,
  healthy, longterm intimacy and bonding between
  spouses is jeopardized.

• 2. Pornography use has the effect of
  increasingly cutting us off from our feelings.
  Our feelings provide us with feedback, and help
  us to modify behavior toward others . Appropriate
  guilt leads to positive change, etc.
• Emotional regulation strategies become replaced
  with emotional avoidance strategies.
