Program Overview
  • Who South Western Elementary students in grades
    1-4 who have received reading or learning support
    services during the school year.
  • What This camp is a supplemental reading and
    math program offered during the summer.
  • Where Held in a district elementary building
    that is able to support the number of students
    attending.
  • When Monday through Thursday during the month
    of July. The day is from 830 a.m. to 1200 p.m.
  • Why To increase motivation for academic
    learning and to reinforce reading and math skills
    learned during the school year.

Program Overview
  • Class size limited to 15 or less.
  • Certified elementary teacher and instructional
    aide per classroom.
  • IEPs were not followed for learning support
    students.
  • Learning support teacher rotated through the
    classrooms to assist and taught small groups.

Preparation
  • Staff meets during school year to meet each other
    and prepare for the campers.
