Challenges- external factors
  • Students do not have time or inclination to
practice outside of the 2 hour sessions.
Fortnightly sessions increase risk of students
forgetting learning from previous session so more
time has to be spent repeating what has already
    been taught
  • Shouts- learning hours reduced at Keynsham
station due to impact of Shouts. However, as
yet, there has been no impact elsewhere

the course was very beneficial
Course was FAB
T H A N K S T O A L L I N V O L V E D!
Its given me confidence to use what I've learnt
I hope it continues!

Challenges- IT resources
  • Additional lap tops required to meet demand as
project roll out steps up a pace
  • Due to intermittent or lack of internet access
    via laptops ,Colleges are understandably
reluctant to pilot station based examinations.
Students only have option to do paper based tests
or on line at the college
  • Pressure on busy IT teams to support ULF
    resources
  • Reliance on willing volunteer to set up lap tops
    at each session

13
Challenges- personalised learning
  • Big differentiation between skills levels of
students. One size doesnt fit all
  • Potential to make delivery plan too complicated
to try and suit all students needs
  • Information Advice Guidance (IAG)- signposting
    students to ongoing learning

14
Successes- IT resources
  • Buy-in and support from IT Teams
  • Agreement to purchase double the amount of lap
    tops in GFRS
  • GFRS agreement to maintain and manage laptops
  • AFRS agreement to rental of 3G router with
Vodafone mobile connect for station where there
    is currently no internet access

15
Successes- Partnership working
  • Evidence from interim evaluation shows that
project is having positive impact on learners
  • Evidence from interim evaluation shows that
project is helping to meet organisations aims
    and objectives
  • Developing working relationships with local
    colleges
  • Strategic support from key stakeholders
