Physical Violence

• Intentional use of force, such as
• Slapping
• Pushing
• Shaking
• Choking
• Hitting
• Or using a knife, gun or other weapon

Sexual Violence

• Actual or threatened use of physical force to
  compel a person to engage in a sexual act against
  his or her will
• Attempted or completed sex act with a person
  unable to
• Avoid participation
• Communicate unwillingness
• Understand the nature of the act
• Any form of abusive sexual contact

Psychological and Emotional Abuse

• Humiliating, name-calling, or the use of
  profanity
• Purposely embarrassing victim-especially in
  public
• Controlling victims movement and activities
• Isolating victim from friends and family
• Controlling financial resources
• Withhold information or resources
