Introduction
I do a survey at Naches Valley High School to
prove my hypothesis on how teenagers are
adjusting to how life is today. I passed out
thirty surveys and got results back. Here is my
hypothesis
Teenagers prefer the ways of life now. They are
now more self-reliable than teenagers were when
people were more family oriented.

Family

• Men
• 78 live in a family that consists of a mother,
  father, and siblings.
• 9 live in a family that consists of just their
  mother.
• 4 live in a family that consists of either a
  mother and father, a mother and siblings,or a
  father and siblings.

• Women
• 86 live in a family that consists of a mother,
  father, and siblings.

Most teenagers still live in a full family were
there is a mother, father, and siblings. In that
sense, there is still many families that are
still together without divorce or separation
being involved.

Food
Most teenagers still prefer their mothers to cook
dinner. Although, a fair amount have decided that
they would rather have fast food other than a
homemade meal. Also, a thing that has not changed
from the past is that teenagers would prefer a
homemade pie over going to the store and buying
donuts. A thing that has changed though is the
fact that most fathers now cook dinner at least
two to three times a week. Thats a change from
when the father was the worker and provider and
the mother was the house-cleaner and meal-maker.

• Men
• 78 would prefer dinner cooked by their mother,
  9 would prefer dinner cooked by themselves or
  fast food, and 4 would prefer dinner cooked by
  their father.
• 82 would prefer a homemade pie over the 18 that
  would prefer donuts from a store.
• 50 have their fathers cooked dinner 2-3 times a
  week, 27 have fathers that never cook dinner.

• Women
• 57 would prefer dinner cooked by their mother,
  29 would prefer dinner cooked by their father or
  fast food.
• 86 would prefer a homemade pie over the 14 that
  would prefer donuts from a store.
• 57 have their fathers cook dinner 2-3 times a
  week, 29 have fathers that never cook dinner.

• 74 mothers work
• 52 work themselves

Times have changed! By the results of the survey,
it shows that more women are working than men.

• Men
• 67 chose Real World as their t.v. choice.
• 33 chose Full House

• Women
• 57 chose Real World as their t.v. choice.
• 43 chose Full House

• The Real World is a reality television show that
  follows around teenagers as they live their lives
  together as room mates.
• Full House is a television show where the men of
  the house take care of three young girls when
  they have no mother.
• Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman is a television show
  that takes place long ago during cowboy times. A
  woman is taking care of her family, but also
  works to support them.

• 39 pay their own bills.
• 30 either dont have bills or their parents pay
  for them.

• Women
• 57 dont have any bills.
• 43 have bills but their parents pay for them.

Most men pay for their own bills, while most
women dont have any. A majority still have their
parents pay for their bills.

Misc.

• Men
• 86 would choose modern furniture over antiques.
• 55 plan on living on their own at the age of 18.

• Women
• 80 would choose modern furniture over antiques.
• 71 plan on living on their own at the age of 19.

Men are more in a hurry to move out and live on
their own. A large amount of teenagers prefer
modern furniture over antiques, suggesting that
they like the change in technology.

Future
Men took on the Manly jobs, while women prefer
the easier and more feminine jobs. They both like
firefighting.

• Men
• 80 want to get married, 10 either want to date
  around or stay single.
• 64 would like to be a fireman, 36 would like to
  be a mechanic.

• Women
• 71 want to get married, 29 want to date around.
• None want to be a mechanic.. Either a homemaker,
  secretary, or fireman.

• Kids are more rebellious now.

  because no one is family oriented, everyone does
  their own thing.

Conclusion
My hypothesis stated that Teenagers prefer the
ways of life now. They are now more self-reliable
than teenagers were when people were more family
oriented. My hypothesis was proven by the shows
teens watched, the bills they paid, and the
sooner theyre ready to move out. My hypothesis
was also disproved. Most families are still
oriented and consist of the mother, father, and
whatever siblings there may be. Also, teens still
prefer their mothers cooking. Many things have
changed within families though. Woman now have
jobs and pay their own bills, men cook for the
family. This is a change compared to when mothers
stayed at home and cooked and cleaned, while men
were the providers of the family and did most of
the manual labor.
