This portfolio is laid out into six essential
steps that I believe are very important for
future employers to know. Each step is easy to
follow and very well defined. In this portfolio
you will find simply the best of what I have to

Personal Mission Statement
I strive for the best nothing ever stands in my
way. I may not always succeed the first time
around, but I will never give up. I reach for
the stars, and never accept anything less than
the best. These rules apply in everything I do,
say, and hear. My ultimate objective in life is
to be the man God wants me to be and the person I
know I can be. For the career I choose, I know
I will be the best, and for whatever path I take,
I know it will be the right one. Each day of my
life I push to be the best I can, to live life to
the fullest, stay true to my beliefs and to
respect and cherish those closest to me. I value
my life, my spiritual beliefs, my family, my
friends, and my accomplishments.

Professional Mission Statement
I am a person who will train and educate my
employees to be motivated and confident, seeking
to do their very best. I will have the highest
integrity as an individual in the company, and
will keep and accomplish all company goals to the
best of my ability. My leadership skills result

at Schoolcraft College. In this class, I learned

more confident when talking in front of others.

Arts and Humanities Having a better
understanding of how people react to situations
in life helps you have a better understanding of
how theyre feeling. My Human Relations class
taught me how and why people react to certain
situations in life. This class taught me the
foundations of human behavior, fundamental skills
of working as a team leader and a team member,
and ways of anticipating, preventing, and coping

Something else that I would like to add to
attitude is that your attitude determines your
approach to life. Always having a bad attitude
makes you an uptight and distressed person. Its
funny to see people get angry over the littlest
things. When I see this, I laugh, and think to
myself, I used to be like that! It is who you
are that determines what you see. Staying
positive in life and not letting little things
irritate you is key to making the best out of it.
I have my own philosophy that I live by and you
may find it beneficial as well- You are only on
this planet once so why not make it fun and be
grateful for everything you have and love,
because you never know when your time is up.

Isnt it amazing to think that 430,000 Americans
die due to premature deaths related to smoking
each year? This is the main reason why there are
so many different health issues being studied
that connect deaths to smoking tobacco. Some of
the most known being emphysema, heart disease,
and lung cancer. Aside from these health
problems, there are many studies revealing the
harmful effects of cigar smoking, which is
thought to be harmless by many people. Another
big issue to be recognized as a problem with
smoking is the effects that second-hand smoke
exerts on others. So why do people smoke? Most
smokers take up smoking as adolescents, due to
experimentation. This experimentation often
becomes an addiction. The addiction is caused by
nicotine, a drug that acts as a stimulant. When
ingested in large doses, nicotine can cause
vomiting, nausea, headaches, stomach pains,
convulsions, paralysis, and even death. In
addition, many tobacco companies add Ammonia to
the tobacco to enhance the effect of nicotine,
causing the drug to be even more addictive.
Although many people know that this highly
addictive and dangerous drug is in tobacco, over
3,000 new smokers begin smoking regularly every
day. One of the most known diseases caused by
smoking tobacco is emphysema. Emphysema is the
breakdown of small air sacs in the lungs, called
alveoli. This breakdown causes the lungs to
loose their elasticity, which, in turn, causes
difficulty of inhaling and exhaling. Symptoms
consist of coughing, wheezing, chronic mucus, and
difficulty breathing. Treatments include
medication, anti-inflammatories, antibiotics,
inhalers, breathing exercises, and many
others. Heart disease is another health problem
related to smoking. Through recent studies,
experts have found that 75 of all coronary heart
disease, which is the leading cause of death in
the United States, is attributed to smoking.
Symptoms of this life-threatening disease consist
of chest discomfort, unusual shortness of breath,
dizziness or fainting, prolonged irregular
heartbeats, and sudden weight gain. Studies have
also shown that inhaling tobacco smoke causes
many other damaging effects to the cardiovascular
system.

Among other attributes, smoking is the leading
cause of lung cancer. Lung cancer is the most
common cause of cancer death in men and is
becoming the most common cause in women.
Symptoms, often occurring in the later stage of
the disease, include shortness of breath,
coughing up blood, chest pain, fever, weakness,
weight loss, appetite loss, and shoulder pain.
Although treatment, such as surgery, radiation,
and chemotherapy may prolong survival, life
expectancy among victims of this disease is less
than five years after diagnosis. Contrary to
popular belief, recent studies have found that
cigars also contribute to diseases related to
tobacco smoke, even if a person doesnt inhale.
Statistics taken from a study showed that smoking
cigars significantly increases your risk of
attaining the cancers of the lip, throat,
esophagus, and lungs, as well as emphysema and
heart disease. Although doctors have known about
these risks for many years, new research has
increased the pressure of requiring federal
warning labels on all cigar packages. Many
people smoke, ignorant to the fact that they are
not only risking the health of themselves, but
they are also risking the health of others around
them. Second-hand smoke is a major issue
involved with smoking. In a survey conducted by
the National Asthma Campaign, over three million
non-smokers work in facilities in which they are
frequently or constantly exposed to peoples
cigarette smoke. This isnt even including the
millions of other people who are exposed to smoke
due to family and friends. It is obvious that
smoking in this country, and others, has become a
major health issue. The list of health risks
related to smoking is endless. It effects the
way people live their lives and how long they
live. In order to reduce peoples risks of these
diseases or even death, smokers must do their
best to quit smoking.
