Voice Dispatch
  • Procedure for voice dispatch
  • Activate Tone(s)
  • Announce either Basic 3__ or Medic 3__ depending
    on the medical level
  • needed. The appropriate level may be updated as
    additional
  • information is received by the call taker or
    dispatcher.(i.e. Basic
  • 328 WITH Medic 369)
  • Announce type of call (chest pain, fall, etc.)
  • Announce name of residence
  • Announce location of call and cross streets
  • Announce Box Number
  • Announce section, floor, or complex if known

Rules of the Radio
  • STAY CALM
  • Listen before transmitting to make certain the
    channels or talk-groups are clear, and organize
    your thoughts before transmitting. The overeager
    operator is a source of wasted time and
    confusion.
  • Keep all transmissions brief and to the point.
    Avoid long winded descriptions and unnecessary
    repetition. Accuracy, brevity, and speed are all
    important however, they should be considered in
    that order.
  • Speak distinctly and pronounce words carefully.
    Speak at a moderate speed using your
    conversational tone of voice with emphasis and
    rhythm. A message should be spoken by phrases,
    not one word at a time.

2 EMS Consoles
  • Both EMS consoles are identical but in normal
    operations one position will handle all dispatch
    responsibilities while the second position works
    the Hail talk group handling en
    route/arrival information as well as hospital
    notification.

  • EMS Hailing - This talk-group will be utilized
    for all transmissions and
  • response coordination between field units and
    the communications center.
  • (EMS OP)- EMS Operations This talk-group will
    be utilized as the primary talk
  • group for unit to unit coordination during an
    EMS emergency call.

  • This talk-group is to be utilized for unit to
    unit
  • coordination between EMS, Fire and Police. This
    talk-group is not to be used to
  • communication with the County.

Having the county notify
  • If the Unit requests EDS to notify hospital
  • Ambulance County from Phila. Medic 96-1
    Copy Notification
  • County Phila. 96-1
  • Enroute to Hospital Abington Patient Class --
    Age -- Sex -- Chief Complaint -- ETA
  • If the Unit is going to notify hospital directly
  • County from Phila. 96-2, enroute (name of
    hospital) Class (class of patient) well
    notify.

Emergency Button
  • Emergency Button The orange button on the top
    of the MTS-2000 Portable.
  • Note Emergency Buttons only operate when the
    radio is in operation on the A or B channel
    bank
  • Emergency Buttons do not send an emergency
    signal when the radio is in operation in the C
  • channel bank.

Resetting the Emergency button
  • Resetting an Emergency Identifier Whether the
    emergency identifier was sent intentionally or by
    accident,
  • the following steps must be followed in order to
    reset the radio and the opened channel.
  • 1) Transmit to the County.
  • 2) Wait for the County to answer.
  • 3) Turn radio off for three (3) seconds
  • 4) Turn radio back on
