Is it Reliable ?
Who by ? Unsure but possibly a news
photographer.Could have been selective. A good
picture or up beat for morale.This wont stop us
having our cuppa Adolf

Its primary, from the time,an eyewitness, close
to the events, first hand,so should be aware of
the facts
HOW USEFUL IS THIS SOURCE IN UNDERSTANDING THE
EFFECT OF WAR ON CIVILIANS ?
Tone ? Possibly set up for propaganda
purposes.Would the milkman really have chosen
that route?
What it tells me or infers?
Audience Public..Cheer them up not show pictures
of dead bodies.
Damage to buildings . Probably deaths and injuries
Disruption to every day life. Businesses shut,
transport systems interrupted.
Lots of repairs and rebuilding. Fire fighting,
rescue work.BUT people tried to carry on as
normal, like the milk man!

NOT TELL YOU Its omissions
You need to just give a few factual examples to
demonstrate the source is limited in the
information that it provides.
EG. It doesnt tell us that civilians built their
own bomb shelters , called Anderson shelters in
their gardens.
Also, it doesnt tell us that many thousands of
civilians died in bombing raids in London ,
Coventry, Liverpool and other cities.
