Background

• USDA started Enterprise Messaging with the idea
  that email and collaboration services could be
  shared across the entire department
• OCIO International Technology Services (ITS) was
  charged with refining Enterprise Messaging into a
  cost effective, robust system for USDA agencies

• USDA represents a large collection of business
  lines with multiple missions
• Each agency has honed their email systems to
  provide maximum value for their constituents
• Many agencies have integrated programs, telephony
  and business processes into their current
  messaging systems
• Each USDA agency must have secure, reliable and
  flexible communications services to succeed
