17Summary
- three quarters of respondents believe people in
their neighbourhood treat others with respect and
consideration. Half think people are made to
take responsibility for their children - one quarter (25) believe that crime in general
is falling two thirds (71) think otherwise - drug related crime and theft from home or
property cause the greatest concern - major anti-social issues revolve around
- underage drinking (41 very concerned)
- litter/rubbish lying around (41 very concerned)
- drug abuse (38 very concerned)
- nuisance behaviour by youths (34 very concerned)

26 see poor performance - locally, residents in Darton East/Darton
West/Dodworth are least likely to have seen
progress - Overall, respondents are satisfied with the
cleanliness of parks open spaces across the
borough (net balance 5). Locally net
satisfaction is - lowest Dearne North/Dearne South and
Cudworth/North East, higher Penistone
East/Penistone West and Hoyland Milton/
Rockingham - At local level, 25 are happy with the Councils
progress to improve cleanliness of parks open
spaces while 32 are not - Dearne North/Dearne South is where progress is
considered to be the weakest

- half of respondents (45) are aware of the
Welfare Rights Service - nine out of ten respondents believe the WRS to be
an important service - two fifths of respondents are aware of the
benefits they or their family may be entitled to - the most important aspects of the WRS are
considered to be - confidentiality
- staff competence
- an easy to use service
