THE BIG QUESTION Machiavelli and Rudd

• Rudds Ideology During the 2007, as part of his
  me-tooism campaign strategy, Kevin Rudd
  professed to be an economic conservative. In a
  recent essay he blamed neo-liberalism and extreme
  capitalism for the global financial crisis and
  put himself forward as a social democratic. How
  do you explain this discrepancy? Is the PM
  deceiving us?
• Rudds Hypocrisy Malcolm Turnball views Rudds
  essay as an attack on the Liberal Party. He
  points out that Kevin Rudds family has profited
  greatly from the (neo-liberal) outsourcing of
  employment services (Therese Rein runs a highly
  successful private employment firm). According to
  Albrechtsen Rudd and his comrades in government
  are the very worst form of class warriors. They
  feel the pain of the underclass when it suits and
  then enjoy the fruits of the overclass. Is Rudd
  being hypocritical?
• Rudds Strategy Rudd has referred to the crisis
  as an economic cyclone. The Opposition has
  accused him of overstating the turmoil and
  stirring fears in order to achieve political gain
  for its leadership when the economy recovers. Do
  you agree, not so much with this assessment, but
  with this strategy? Would you do the same thing
  if you were in power? Is this fear-mongering?
• Rudds Leadership? Australia has moved to scrap a
  13-year-old ban on foreign aid being used to fund
  safer abortions for women in poor nations. Kevin
  Rudd professed a personal Christian stand against
  this move but acquiesced to majority Party
  opinion. One Labor MP blasted Rudd for not using
  his leadership to block the policy shift. "If you
  are not in favour of the change, you should
  simply say while ever I am leader, it won't
  happen."
