Meeting Questions

• Goal
• Develop an understanding of the overall goals,
  the software architecture and technology pieces,
  and infrastructural compatibility on the two
  campuses related to system software for mobile
  devices.
• Follow up
• White paper on the software architecture for the
  wireless infrastructure
• Plan of action document on adoption and expansion
  of the current efforts on providing 3G
  interoperability with 802.11 solutions on the two
  campuses.

• LS there is quite a bit of interest on
  dumbbell wireless infrastructure (with HDR
  links at the two campuses connected by fiber
  links)
• Should explore the possible of HDR installation
  at UCI
• Ensure extensive data collection on wireless
  traffic, usage patterns and its archival
• Current testbeds will likely be templates for
  future commodity systems, hence archival data has
  historical significance
• The focus of our current effort ought to be to
  produce a version 0.0 of the software
  architecture with commodity hardware and software
  pieces (rather than seek to build a future master
  plan)

Action Plan

• Building upon Pasquales organization of the
  software layer create SIGs with the goals
• To produce a white paper for each SIG that
  specifically address the following three
  questions
• What is the best of the breed, where is the
  frontier in the specific area? Where are the
  brickwalls and breakthroughs?
• What are our strengths? Where are the gaps?
• Where are the opportunities for collaboration?
• The Layer Leaders to collect the white papers and
  produce a working document by end of September.
