Balmy Beach Canoe Club Our History

• In 1903 the land at the foot of Beech Avenue was
  donated and a racing canoe club was founded on
  the site in 1905.
• For over 100 years now, the Balmy Beach Canoe
  Club (BBCC), has served Toronto, the Beach
  community and its amateur athlete members.
• Balmy Beach Canoe Club is a legend .

Balmy Beach Canoe Club Part of Canadas
Athletic History

• BBCCs Roy Nurse won gold and four bronze medals
  in sprint canoe at the 1924 Paris Olympics.
• Jim Mossman, coached Canadas Olympic Canoe Team
  four times.
• Beach won the overall National Championship five
  times and many National gold medals in canoe and
  kayak sprint racing.

• The Balmy Beach Canoe Club is a non- profit
  organization dedicated to promoting the sport of
  sprint canoe and kayak racing in the Beach
  community.
• The Clubs goal is to provide a safe and
  enjoyable, recreational and/or competitive
  environment, for members of all ages and
  abilities. Programs are designed to develop both
  the physical and mental strength of individual
  members while encouraging team and Club spirit.

• Most medals won for Canada in Olympic
• 61 clubs, spread around 56 cities in Canada
• Organized in Canada since 19th century
• The Canadian Association started around 1900

• Dragon Boat challenge added in 2005
• Beach-Piranhas team
• Renting boats to outside teams
• Part of our  outreach program  in high schools
