If I knew what the picture was going to be like,
I wouldnt make it. It was almost like it was
made already the challenge is more about trying
to make what you cant think of. -
Cindy Sherman Does this apply to you at all?
When you are working and creating art, do you
HAVE to know what the outcome is going to be
(does your artwork have to be planned out?) Does
this quote inspire you to try something
different? Do you see the value at all in
letting art HAPPEN?

This is artwork and sculpture by Jeff Koons.

  • Most of his work is based on the glorification of
ordinary things and kitsch. They exemplify his
taste in commercial and popular issues (he is a
    Neo-Pop artist)
  • He is widely regarded as a very important figure
in todays contemporary art scene, and his work
is some of the most expensive in the world for
collectors (5.6 million for Michael and his
    chimp!).
  • He has been exhibited in nearly every important
museum or gallery across the world.
  • Many say he is famous for forcing the spectator
to reexamine the impact of consumerism and
popular culture on both the individual and
    contemporary society.

  • Again, what do YOU think?
  • Do you think that there is more merit to Koons
being considered an artist than Thomas Kinkade?
Do you think he is better? Why?
  • Do you disagree and think that his art is
    meaningless? Why?
