Energy Efficiency
The Settlers Inn

• We have an Energy Committee who meets once a
  month to discuss a goal of becoming more energy
  efficient
• i.e. last year we found 150 lights in the
  Inn that could be turned off to ensure efficiency

• The Settlers Inn has received two grants from the
  State of PA to replace furnaces, heating and air
  conditioning with energy saving units
• Showerheads and toilets have been replaced to
  reduce water consumption
• Installed LCD perimeter lighting in our dining
  room and bar

Recycling Program

• We actively encourage guests to recycle their
  trash, and encourage the reuse of towels and
  other items that can be used again
• We no longer use plastic water bottles - we now
  have water stations on each floor for the guests
  to use

• Recyclable and compostable paper goods
• Co-mingling recycling which enables a high volume
  of products that can be recycled
• Compost for food waste
• - 20 tons of food waste put back into the ground

• -Room 204 is our organic room, from the cork
  floors from a local farmer, to bamboo furniture,
  and Low Voc paint, and organic materials

• During the busy season we use Chiliwich table
  covers, to save energy from washing table clothes
• Use of Low Voc in all of current wall paints
• In-House Pastry chef uses organic flour for bread

• The Settlers Inn is devoted to purchasing from
  regional and local sources as well as using
  resources from our organic garden
• The Farm-to-Table concept also supports our local
  farmers in their drive to provide quality local
  produce, dairy, meats and fish to the community
