Title: Exoplanet Working Group

1
Exoplanet Working Group
  • CoRoT Week 9
  • ESTEC Dec 5-9 2005

2
Program of the EWG session
  • Morning
  • - Points to be discussed
  • - Blind Test 2 present status (C. Moutou) ? (P.
    Barge) - Light-curve analysis within Blind test1
    (M. Kodachenko)- Exoplanet detection threshold
    (F. Pont)- Periodic dip in the LCs planet or
    stellar spot? (J. Cabrera)
  • Afternoon (splinter session)
  • Photometric templates - Overview of the
problem (P. Guterman) - Construction and
    optimization (A. Llebaria) - Assignation
    procedure (F. Karioty) Oversampling -
General aspects and the exo side (P. Barge) -
Proposed detection procedure (C. Quentin) -
Requirements for the AP (W. Weiss) Europlanet
    (H. Lammer)
  • Expected planetary populations (G.
    Wuchterl)

3
Points to be discussed during the exo-sessions
  • ? Proposed organization for the detection
    activities
  • ? A proposal to tune the scientific objectives
with a statistics of the planets at 10-15 days
period (changing the first long run into a series
of short run of 40-50 days)
  • ? Why and when information on transit candidates,
from exowarning, will be given to the Follow-up
    group
  • ? Publication rules for CoRoT/Follow-up papers

4
Reminder of Blind Test 1
  • Detection in synthetic light-curves simulated in
    realistic conditions
  • Five different teams were using various methods
    for detrending and detection
  • Joining the results we learned a lot
  • False alarms never appear on the same LC
  • Stellar activity doesnt seem to limit detection
  • Eclipsing binaries are the main source of
    ambiguity
  • and have more secure detection capacity

5
Blind Test 2
  • We want to play in color using the three colored
    channels of CoRoT
  • The exercise focus on discrimination rather than
    detection
  • A bit late not an easy task to simulate things
in a not too unrealistic way !
  • An opportunity to continue working in common and
    to learn !

6
After BT2
  • A proposal
  • To continue working in common with true CoRoT
    data
  • To federate the effort for the analysis of the
    Light-curves
