Main Idea

• The story is about bud who is trying to find his
  father but Bud ends up finding his grand father.
• Bud was 6 when his mom died.
• Bud got sent to the home.
• Bud got sent to live with the Amoses.
• Bud meets up with a friend from the home.
• They go to a place where they can get on a train.
• Bud goes to the Grand Rapids and finds his
  grandfather.

• I learned that just because life is hard it
  doesnt mean it wont get any better or worse.

Plot

• Buds mom died.
• Bud got sent to the home.
• Bud got taken in by the Amoses.
• Bud ran away.
• Bud went to the Grand Rapids.

Setting

• The setting is the home. Bud got sent to the home
  when his mom died. They feed you and give you a
  home. The only problem is that the place isnt
  very amazing. Its really dull and dirty. Its
  covered in dirt and has some broken parts.

Character Descriptions

• Bud is black and has dark colored hair. He is
  brave and kind. He is the main character. He is
  trying to find his dad. The guy he thinks is his
  dad is his grandfather. When he finds him he
  thinks that he is his dad ,but finds out that he
  is his grandfather.
• Herman E. Calloway is black and has a big belly.
  He is mean and grumpy. He is the main characters
  grandfather. He is in band and is very well
  known. He doesnt think he is related to Bud.
  When he finds out that Bud is his grandson he is
  not pleased or angry.
• Lefty Lewis is black and has dark colored hair.
  He is kind and caring. He helps the main
  character get to the Grand Rapids. He finds Bud
  on the side of the rode. He couldnt get Bud to
  talk to him so he gave Bud food. He ends up
  taking Bud to the Grand Rapids.
