STEP PATHWAY

English Curriculum Design Course Aim

• To develop students skills in English (ESOL)
  Curriculum development and syllabus design
• Analysing information from a Needs Analysis
  (Questionnaire) and applying it to write
  generalist or specific courses
• Planning course objectives, lesson outcomes and
  assessment criteria
• Documenting Course Assessment Plans
• Adapting and developing course materials, and
• Developing Course evaluation instruments

ECDC In-Country Component( pre arrival DITC
requirements must be completed by all candidates)

• Identify an English curriculum design project
  from your command/unit
• Administer/conduct a Needs Analysis in the
  identified curriculum context, and
• bring to ECDC the Needs Analysis
• and any other relevant information to work on
  during ECDC
• A generic Needs Analysis document will be
  available for candidates in Oct 2007 from Defence
  Attaché's office/ the local Australian Language
  Advisor or by e-mail from DITC

Prerequisites for ECDC Selection

• ADFELPS minimum S7 L7 R7 W7
• Successful completion of ETDC
• or apply for Recognition of Current Competency
  (RCC) for ETDC equivalent
• RCC application available on www.defence.gov.au/di
  tc
• Qualified, experienced ESOL teachers with current
  English language program curriculum design duties
• Officers of MAJ rank (equivalent) will be given
  preference

Other Information

• ECDC will be limited to nine students per course
• Candidates selected by application to DITC/ or
  ALA nomination
• Application Time line
• ALA /DITC applications received by end Nov 07
• Any RCC applications arrive at DITC no later than
  mid Nov 07
• All selected candidates receive Needs Analysis
  and pre-course requirements no later than mid Dec
  07
• ECDC will be conducted once every 2 years( ECDC
  2008, 2010)
• ECDC will alternate with ETDC ( e.g. ETDC 2007,
  2009, 2011)
