Bundle Prep Solutions

• Brainstorming options with mailing industry
• Exploring use of polywrap as a belly band on
  bundles, in place of strapping

• Bundles with banding around length and strapping
  around width showed promise for
• Adequate bundle stability
• Bundle material removal
• Next looking at how system grips and cuts the
  band, and if bands can be applied around the
  width of the bundle
• Working with industry to determine feasibility
  using different types of bundling equipment

Automating Flats Preparation

• Completed formal test in September with
  repackaged mail on FSS and AFSM 100
• Created dollies in under 3 minutes
• 12,000 bundles successfully processed so far
• Received first mailer-prepared pallets for
  processing

• Continue to explore preparation options
• Determine impact of volume trends on bundle and
  container requirements
• Optimal bundle sizes
• Optimal number of FSS and non-FSS zones on
  pallets
• Extend workgroup timeframe
• Need additional auto-ready pallets!
