Paying Attention

• There are many things that can distract you when
  you are out and about on the road.
• When you are distracted it is harder to pay
  attention to the road.

• Cars cannot stop in time if you run out in front
  of them.
• There are 55 pedestrians killed every week
  because they are not paying attention to the road.

Paying Attention

• Ben and Sally live with their parents in a local
• village outside Milton Keynes. Ben is 6 years
• old and Sally is 7.
• Ben, is an active boy who enjoys playing
• outside. It was a lovely sunny day and Ben
• wanted to play outside with his ball.

• He ran out into the the garden. His sister and
  Ben started throwing the ball. His mother was
  hanging out the washing and was watching her
  children playing. Ben kept throwing the ball
  higher and higher into the air. Careful, their
  Mum said dont let the ball go over the wall.

• Suddenly, she heard a cry from Sally, Ben,
  come back. She looked over and noticed Ben had
  jumped over the garden wall to look for his ball.
  Ben ran as fast as he could after his ball,
  which was now in the middle of the road.

• He was in such a panic to get his ball that
• he ran out into the road, not noticing that
• a car was coming straight towards him.

• missing Ben. Bens mother and Sally
• had heard the car brakes screech and
• ran out onto the pavement. They were
• thankful to see Ben still alive.
