1
Developing a Heart Like His Life Lessons from
the Life of David
  • Lesson 10
  • The Law of the Harvest Rules

2
2 Samuel 129-12
Why did you despise the word of the LORD by
doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down
Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his
wife to be your own. You killed him with the
sword of the Ammonites. Now, therefore, the sword
will never depart from your house, because you
despised me and took the wife of Uriah the
Hittite to be your own.
3
"This is what the LORD says 'Out of your own
household I am going to bring calamity upon you.
Before your very eyes I will take your wives and
give them to one who is close to you, and he will
lie with your wives in broad daylight. You did
it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad
daylight before all Israel.' "

The Consequences
  • The sword will never depart from your house.
  • Out of your own household, God will bring
    calamity upon you.

Hebrews 125-7
And you have forgotten that word of encouragement
that addresses you as sons My son, do not make
light of the LORD's discipline, and do not lose
heart when he rebukes you, because the LORD
disciplines those he loves, and he punishes
everyone he accepts as a son. Endure hardship
as discipline God is treating you as sons. For
what son is not disciplined by his father?
9
Proverbs 311-12
My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and
do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord
disciplines those he loves, as a father the son
he delights in.
10
Practical Points
  • God does punish His children.
  • The law of the harvest rules.

11
Galatians 67-8
Do not be deceived God cannot be mocked. A man
reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please
his sinful nature, from that nature will reap
destruction the one who sows to please the
Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
12
Practical Points
  • God does punish His children.
  • The law of the harvest rules.
  • Parents put the time in now!

13
Deuteronomy 1118-21
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds
tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them
on your foreheads. Teach them to your children,
talking about them when you sit at home and when
you walk along the road, when you lie down and
when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of
your houses and on your gates, so that your days
and the days of your children may be many in the
land that the LORD swore to give your
forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens
are above the earth.
14
