Engineers ball peen hammer
  • A general purpose hammer having a flat face on
one side and a ball pene on the other.
  • Mainly used for striking punches and riveting.

3
Tinmans mallet
  • The heads and handles of mallets are made from
    hardwood.
  • Used for shaping sheet metal where a hammer blow
would be to severe and cause dents or stretch
marks on the surface of the metal.

4
Centre punch
  • These have a 90 degree point.
  • Used to mark the centres of holes to be drilled.

5
Straight tin snips
  • Made from tool steel.
  • The cutting blades slide past each other and cut
by means of a shearing action.
  • Used for the straight cutting of thin sheet
metal. Note curved tin snips are also available
    for cutting curves.

6
Aviation or Wiss snips
  • Made from tool steel.
  • They employ a multiple lever action to achieve
    greater power.
  • Uses include straight and curved cutting of thin
    sheet metal.

7
Bick iron stake
  • A piece of cast and machined to a specific shape.
  • Used for bending sheet metal at right angles

8
Hatchet stake
  • A piece of cast and machined to a specific shape.
  • Used for bending sheet metal at acute angles.
