A global response to poverty in a changing
climate The Church of England and Tearfund are
partnering with Anglican churches overseas who
are helping poor communities adapt to the
challenges of climate change. Please pray for
this life-changing work.

Father God We confess that we have thought too
often of our own comfort we have not thought of
those whose lives, whose choices, whose hopes are
constrained by poverty. Dear Lord Help us as we
endeavour to live in a way that respects the
suffering of people affected by climate change.
Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer

Father God We confess that too often we have
pursued our own lifestyle, not mindful of the
effect that our lives can have on people far
away. Help us to pray for those at risk in a
changing climate, and for all your people who
work day by day with them, and for them, for a
better life. Lord, in your mercy Hear our

Father God We confess that we have been slow to
awake to the dangers that a changing climate
poses to people living in poverty. Help us to
give generously of our time, our energy, our
prayer and our money to support the work of your
church in poor communities around the world that
are grappling with the effects of climate
change. And bless, we pray, the work of the
Climate Justice Fund may it be fruitful in
changing lives and in giving praise to you.
Accept these prayers, for the sake of our Lord

God our Father God our Creator The earth is yours
and everything in it. Thank you Lord for the
gift of this beautiful world. Forgive us Lord
for trampling on your gift for polluting the
land, the seas, the skies. Forgive us for our
selfish lives.

God our Father God our Creator Give us the vision
and will to help those who suffer most as
climates change. Where the poorest face
rain-starved land or floods of destruction, help
us to bring security and hope. Where young and
old alike suffer hunger, sickness and distress,
help us to loose the chains of injustice.

with people in your world whose lives are
threatened by climate change. Help us to act

Lord, we pray for the planning and development
staff of the Church of the Province of Uganda in
Teso region. Please bless their work, helping
people respond to the challenges of erratic
climate conditions. We pray that the new crops
being introduced will provide families with more
food. We pray that the training the Church
provides will help vulnerable communities adapt
to climate change. Amen

Lord, we pray for the Diocese of Kagera in
north-west Tanzania. Please bless local Church
leaders and congregations as they work with poor
communities to help them adapt to the effects of
a changing climate. We pray that you will help
people living in poverty in this area to protect
the environment, conserve energy and grow more
food. Amen

Lord, we pray for the Church of the Province of
Congo, serving people in a land ravaged by war.
Please bless their work with impoverished
communities struggling to grow food in conditions
of soil erosion and a changing climate. We
pray that these people will benefit from the
planting of new trees and that support from the
Climate Justice Fund will enable them to adapt to
climate change. Amen
