Assignment 5 Classroom Procedures and Routines

Beginning Class Procedures
  • Roll Call
  • Roll call will begin immediately after the late
    bell rings.
  • All students should be in their assigned seats at
    this time.
  • Absence notes will be presented to the teacher as
    each students name is called.
  • Tardy Students
  • Class will not stop for any late students.
  • Late students will enter room quietly and proceed
    to their seat.
  • Any work that is missed is the students
    responsibility.
  • Please see teacher after class to find out about
    any missed material.

Beginning Class continued
  • Taking up and distributing materials
  • Students will place their homework in the
    appropriate bin before the late bell rings.
  • Classroom assignments will be passed back from
    the first seat of each row.
  • In order to collect these assignments, they will
    be passed to the front of each row and then
    collected by the teacher.
  • Warm-ups to start the day
  • Each day when you come to class be prepared with
    all needed materials (paper, pen, books, etc.)
  • A warm-up activity will be written on the board
    with all necessary instructions.
  • The warm-up activity is to be completed in the
    first 10 minutes of class.
  • The activity will be collected for a grade and
    then gone over.

Instructional Activities Procedures
  • Student Movement
  • When the bell rings, all students should be in
    their seat and remain so until dismissed by the
    teacher at the end of class.
  • When it is time to change seats for group work,
    students are to move quickly and quietly and be
    prepared to begin the activity upon being seated.
  • Signal for Student Attention
  • A bell will be rung when the teacher needs
    students attention. Students should listen for
    that bell as the teacher may be giving additional
    information or instructions.

  • Heading for Papers
  • All papers will have students name, class period,
    date, and assignment listed in the top right-hand
    corner, i.e.

  • Date
  • Assignment
  • Student Talking
  • When the teacher is talking, no one else should
    be. If any students have a question or something
    to add to the discussion, they must raise their
    hand and wait to called on by the teacher.

  • Activities to do when work is completed
  • Read tomorrows assignment
  • Read one of the Time magazines on the bookshelf.
  • Do homework for another class.
  • Do NOT talk to your neighbors.
  • Other
  • It is the teachers expectation that every person
    in this class will treat with courtesy and
    respect throughout the class time. There will be
    many important things to add to discussions and
    it is imperative that everyone listen to what
    others are saying.

Room Areas Procedures
  • Supply Room/Closet
  • The supply closet may not be accessed by any
    student unless authorized by the teacher.
  • Bookshelf/reading relaxing areas
  • Books on the bookshelf are for class use, but
    they must be returned at the end of class in the
    condition received in, and in the same place it
    was in. so that we dont have to search for books
    when they are needed.

  • Computer area
  • Permission must be asked to use the computers if
    not instructed by the teacher.
  • No food or drinks, including water, are allowed
    in the computer area.
  • Computers are to be used only for this classs
    assignments, unless otherwise authorized by the
    teacher.

Ending Class Procedures
  • Putting away supplies
  • All supplies must be put away five minutes before
    class ends.
  • Supplies must be returned to their proper place
    in the same condition that they were found.
    Meaning if markers had caps on then they should
    be returned this way.
  • Organizing materials for next class
  • Any materials, such as dictionaries, maps, or
    markers, must all be returned to their original
    place.
  • Any components of group activities must be
    returned as found or as otherwise instructed by
    the teacher.

  • Dismissing Class
  • Class will be dismissed by the teacher, not the
    bell, when all students are in their seats.
  • Other
  • All desks must be returned to their original
    place, and all trash must be picked up off the
    floor.

Other Procedures
  • Fire Drill
  • In case of a fire drill students should leave
    every thing behind, line-up quickly and quietly
    at the door and go outside to the designated
    area. The teacher will lock the door and meet the
    class outside to take roll.
  • Lockers
  • Stude nts will not be allowed to go to their
    lockers once the bell rings, therefore it is
    curtail that students come prepared for class.

Other Procedures continued
  • Bathroom and Water Fountain breaks
  • Students will have one bathroom break per week,
    there will be no
  • water breaks. Students should bring a bottle of
    water with them to class.
  • Only one student is allowed out side of the
    classroom at a time.
  • Substitute Folder/Procedures
  • Substitute teachers must be given the same amount
    of respect as
  • the classroom teacher.
  • The substitute will have specific directions on
    what to do and step
  • by step procedures. All students must follow all
    directions and cooperate with the substitute.
  • Any rules a substitute gives must be followed
    even if they
  • contradict with class rules.
  • Any students reported by the substitute will be
    automatically
  • written up.
