OLD AGENCY LANDFILL

• Landfill that was in operation from the early
  1920s to 1970
• Received all types of waste.

BROWNFIELDS EXPANDED

• On January 11, 2002 President Bush signed into
  law the Small Business Liability Relief and
  Brownfields Revitalization Act.
• Boosted funding for assessment and cleanup.

ASSESSMENT GRANTS

• Provides funding for brownfields inventories,
  planning, environmental assessments, and
  community outreach
• Fort Belknap Indian Community awarded 200,000
  for 2-year project

TARGETED BROWNFIELDS ASSESSMENT GRANTS

• Can apply for funding to an conduct Environmental
  Site Assessment (ESA) on more than one site.
• FBIC received funding for Agency Dump Site
  located below the water tower.
• EPA uses their own contractor to complete ESA.

BROWNFIELDS CLEANUP GRANTS

• Provides direct funding for cleanup activities
• FBIC has not applied for this grant to date
