• Registry
• Startup in Registry before Windows
• Startup in Registry after Windows

BIOS

• Check boot sequence - c, a, cdrom
• Autodetect IDE
• Load bios default setting

Master boot record

• First sector in hard disk
• FDISK /mbr - to repair

Boot/system files

• IO.SYS - binary file
• MSDOS .SYS - text files, indicate windows
  directory, boot disk etc
• COMMAND.COM

• Old device driver - cdrom
• DEVICEC\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS

• Load driver - cdrom, sound card

• Load dynamic link library - .dll
• Error such files not found in registry or
  system.ini (Screen still blank - dos mode)
• Regedit.exe - can easily remove the error screen
• On registry remove all syntax from runonce

• Load program file such as anti virus, power
  management etc (Screen still black - dos mode)
• MSCONFIG - STARTUP can easily remove the program
  from automatically run.

• Norton Ghost to duplicate hard disk mirror
• Norton Utilities to check error
• Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition - centralized
  control. Remotely install, update, scanning
  remove virus
