• Trojan Horse- imposters/files that claim to be
  something desirable, but in fact are malicious

• Unsolicited e-mail sent to a large number of
  addresses may contain inappropriate graphic
  images, viruses, fraudulent info. Or request
  information.

Can-Spam Act

• Requires spammers to follow guidelines including
  honoring unsubscribe requests but doesnt ban
  Spam.

Reduce Spam

• Choose non obvious e-mail addresses.
• Limit where you enter your email address.
• Use Spam-blocking software.
• Dont open Spam email.
• Dont respond to Spam e-mail.
• Report Spam to your ISP and the senders ISP.

• Computer runs slowly.
• Icon appears on your desktop on task bar.
• Your default browser is changed.
• You hear programs running even when you arent
  using the computer.

Preventing Identity theft

• Handle your mail with care
• Keep items with personal information in a safe
  place
• Safeguard sensitive information on your computer
  or online with passwords that include and
  letters.
• Dont give out personal information
• Be sure a site is secure before you send
  sensitive data.

Protect Privacy On-line

• Share your primary email address only with
  trusted family.
• Watch what you say online.
• If someone is harassing you or threatening you,
  save the communications as proof.
• Use preference options to block transmission of
  mail, chat, or instant messages from anyone who
  persists in bothering you
