Problem

• How will I investigate why Uranus is tilted on
  its side?

Hypothesis

• I think Uranus got knocked on its side by another
  planet or moon that hit it.

Materials

• The materials I need for my experiment are
• A large balloon (gas planet Uranus)
• 1 walnut (the planets rocky core)
• a tank of gases (Uranus atmosphere)
• different kinds of balls(moon or something
  that hit Uranus)
• a laptop and a digital camera

Methods/Steps in Experiment

• Put walnut inside balloon
• 2. Attach air tank to opening of balloon.
• 3. Blow up balloon.
• 4. Try hitting balloon with each of the balls.
• 5. Observe what happens and take pictures.
• 6. Write down what happened.
• 7. Report back to NASA.

Hypothesis I think Uranus is tilted because
something hit the planet and turned it sideways.

• Conclusions
• I believe this because when the ball hit the
  gas-filled balloon, the walnut inside it bounced
  and made it stay tilted on its side.

• Discovered by William Herschel in 1781
• A very odd planet
• Orbits the Sun every 84 Earth years
• Has at least 22 moons.
• Methane gas gives its atmosphere look
  blue-green.

• 3rd largest planet in our Solar System
• Looks blue-green.
• Has 18 moons
• Has rings
• If Im 75 pounds on Earth, Ill weigh 76 pounds
  on Uranus, so gravity is about the same.
• 7th planet from Sun.
