Words of Wisdom From Dr. Joe
  • Whenever you feel blue, start breathing again.
  • You know, health nuts are going to feel stupid
someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
  • Just think, when you are senile you can hide
     your own Easter eggs.

5
Fun Things to DoIn Brians World
  • Sometimes I put mosquito netting around my work
area and play tropical sounds all day.
  • I enjoy sitting in a parked car with sun glasses
on and point a hair dryer at passing cars to see
    if they slow down.
  • I love to sing along at the opera.
  • When the money comes out of the ATM, I scream, I
    won!, I won!

DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN..

All the girls had ugly gym uniforms?

12
It took five minutes for the TV to warm up?

13
Nearly everyone's Mom was at home when the kids
got home from school?

14
Nobody owned a purebred dog?

15
When a quarter was a decent allowance?

16
Or when you'd reach into a muddy gutter for a
penny?
17
Your Mom wore nylons that came in two pieces?

18
All your male teachers wore neckties and female
teachers had their hair done every day and wore
high heels?

19
You got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and
gas pumped, without asking, all for free, every
time?   And you didn't pay for air? And, you got
trading stamps to boot?

20
It was considered a great privilege to be taken
out to dinner at a real restaurant with your
parents?

21
They threatened to keep kids back a grade if they
failed. . . and they did?

22
No one ever asked where the car keys were because
they were always in the car, in the ignition, and
the doors were never locked?

23
Lying on your back in the grass with your friends
and saying things like, "That cloud looks like a
.............."

24
and playing baseball with no adults to help kids
with the rules of the game?

25
In the 50s and 60s.
  • Small things made people happy!
  • People were judged on who they were versus what
    they owned.

26
Paradox of Success in 2008
  • Big houses.
  • but more broken homes.
  • More convenience.
  • less time.
  • More degrees.
  • less common sense.
  • More knowledge.
  • less judgment.

27
Paradox of Success cont.
  • Two incomes.
  • more divorce.
  • More experts.
  • more problems.
  • Learned to make a living.
  • but not a life.
  • Added years to our life.
  • but not life to our years.

28
What is Success to Our Students in 2008?
  • I get all my bills in order by using money
    management and decision-making skills.
  • I dont struggle living month to month.
  • I reached my life time goal of getting my R.N. by
    the time Im 45.
  • My child remains in good standing with the
    community and graduates from college.

29
What is Success to Our Students?
  • When my goals are met and I feel at peace.
  • I feel secure about myself so I can help others.
  • I have seen my daughter through school and to her
finding a happy home of her own.
  • I have a successful career and family.

30
So..What is Success to Our Students?
  • Not simply to have a job but to have a PURPOSE.
  • You teach to the purpose with your touch.

31
Obstacles I Must Overcome
  • My fear of failing.
  • My lack of money management.
  • Self-doubt and my terrible upbringing.
  • Self esteem issues are my problem (fat, lazy,
    ugly).
  • Fear of saying, what if?
  • The fear of not being hired by anyone.

32
What My School/Teachers Can Do To Help Me Succeed
  • Just be by my side and guide me with their
    advice.
  • Be more excited to teach. To seem happy to see
    me succeed.
  • Talk to me about opportunities in the workforce.
  • Help me keep motivated.
  • Encourage me to stay focused.

33
The Impact of Your Touch
  • Just think of the opportunities YOU have everyday
    to impact someones life.
  • Just think of others, in the students life, that
    you have impacted.
  • Just think of what would happen to two million
individuals if there were no career colleges and
    no YOU.

34
YOU
  • Give without asking for a return.
  • Go the extra mile to help someone change their
    life.
  • Give of yourself to support another.
  • ARE SPECIAL!
  • ARE SIGNIFICANT!
