    residents needs and desires for transportation

What needs to happen
  • Currently, Project Delivery staff has developed
    long-range Capital Improvement Program, based on
    meetings and input from cities and County
    transportation staff
  • Using the CIP as the driver, staff is now
    preparing a Draft RTP that meets all requirements
    of the RTP Guidelines (see www.catc.ca.gov)

  • During preparation, staff will coordinate with
    all transportation providers, appropriate
    federal, state and local agencies, environmental
    resource agencies, air districts, and adjoining
    RTPAs
  • Public involvement is a major component of the
    RTP process.

How the Draft RTP will be circulated
  • Forty-five day review /discussion period
  • Second round of workshops throughout the County
    using interactive process and a Workbook that
    fully describes the identified issues of concern
    from the first round, the current process, and
    various opportunities for participation

  • Newspaper advertisements
  • www.kerncog.org
  • Presentations at the County and Cities Board and
    Council meetings
  • Other opportunities, as they present themselves

Final RTP When?
  • Preliminary Final RTP presented to the Board July
    2004
  • Final RTP to be adopted by Board September 2004
  • Subsequently, submitted to the California
    Department of Transportation and Federal Highways
    Admn for review and approval
