Title: InSight 1010 ID Reader
1In-Sight 1010 ID Reader
2In-Sight 1010An ID Reader that simply reads
Not every 2D code is printed on a black and
white label.
Easy to read or Difficult
to read (but no problem for In-Sight 1010)
- Powered by proven Cognex vision
- Designed to handle the toughest real world
codes

AIM/ANSI verification standards can be used to
confirm readability of all codes
5Product Performance
- Reads poorly formed and degraded codes
- Direct marked codes on wide range of part surface
types including metal, plastic, ceramic and glass - Codes that are dot-peened, laser-etched and
ink-jet printed - Codes that are degraded or damaged due to wear
and tear - Rotated, skewed or resized codes
6Finding the Code
- Sometimes the most difficult task for any reader
is locating the code
- Clocking Pattern
- Two adjacent sides with
- alternating light and dark
- cells provide matrix density
Encoded Data Error Correction
- Finder Pattern
- Two solid adjacent sides locate the pattern
- Damaged or skewed Finder Patterns make locating
the code tough - If you cant find it, you cant read it!
7Finding the Code
- Training the code
- In-Sight 1010 can train on the Finder Pattern for
robust location - Once trained, the code can be found even when the
Finder Pattern is damaged or skewed.. Where
other readers fail!
- This 14x14 matrix is severely skewed
- It is very difficult to find without training
- Here, the Finder Pattern is obstructed
- The 1010 solves this problem by training, which
allows this code to be found and read
8Image Processing
In the real world
- Lighting and optics are not ideal
- Cant always get a high contrast image
- Lens quality degrades due to environment
- The quality of the mark varies greatly
- Rough surfaces
- Curved parts
- Variations in surface colors
- Degradation
- Old marking equipment
The In-Sight 1010 offers image processing to help
read poor quality codes
9Image Processing Examples
10Performance
- Speed
- Decodes up to 30 reads per second
- On-Line Verification
- In-Sight 1010 provides code quality verification
for downstream work stations and customers - Ensures that internal and external customers are
receiving high quality, readable codes - Verifies to AIM International standards approved
by ANSI - Provides a mechanism for feedback
- Enables monitoring of marking equipment
performance - Useful during lighting setup reader optimization
11Verification
- On-Line Verification helps identify marking
problems - Image Processing can be used to improve
readability
12Ease of Use
- Stand Alone System
- Integrated camera, ID software, and processor
- Eliminates installation and wiring of external
control unit - System is easily configured with PC or In-Sight
3000 unit
Power and I/O breakout
