Communication infrastructure - requirements
  • - Establishing LAN connectivity between
    workstations and servers located in JTSAC
  • - Interconnecting JTSAC with computer resources
    of BAS
  • - Providing interface to other information
    systems, GPS and sensor data, mobile C2 posts and
    Internet
  • - Monitoring, storing and visualisation the state
    of network equipment, communication channels and
    network utilisation for Post-Mission analyses
  • - Ability for local and remote videomonitoring
    and archiving of videodata

    for users, working on mobile C2 posts.

Backbone Connectivity Wireless Module
  • This is the main communications module in the
    set.
  • It provides monitoring and management of the
    whole deployed communications infrastructure.
  • This module provides also all necessary
    interfaces to the other C2 networks and systems
    such as phone and LAN interfaces.
  • The other goal of the module is establishing the
    backbone connectivity via channels of national
    network operators, local ISPs or connection via
    sattelite terminal.

Universal Communication Wireless Module
  • This module is a power horse of the C2 post.
  • It provides for the end users dedicated
    workplace with PC and standard set of interfaces
  • phone services
  • - video- and teleconferencing capabilities
  • - mobile wireless connectivity
  • - access to information resources via Web
    interface
  • - print and fax services
  • - e-mail services.

Access Point Wireless Module
  • The module provides the base communication media
    for data exchange between all modules on the
    field.
  • It is based on the IEEE 802.11 high-speed
    wireless standard and provides 11 Mbps (up to 54
    Mbps) connectivity.
  • Using such a COTS standard it is also possible to
    provide connectivity in the serviced area for
    laptops and PDAs equipped with wireless adapters.

Video Wireless Module
  • The module provides video surveillance
    capabilities and allows remotely to monitor
    different zones of interest.
  • It is equipped with Hi-resolution network cameras
    with different capabilities which ensures
    day/night videomonitoring, monitoring of moving
    objects etc.
  • Using network capabilities of the cameras it is
    possible to send real time video surveillance
    information across the all system and via
    Internet to the stationary centers too.

Conclusion
  • The main criteria, beared in mind in process of
    building the JTSAC's communication
    infrastructure using COTS products, standardized
    and open communication protocols, open source
    software packages and theoretical modelling and
    simulation gives us a reason to believe that this
    approach is well suited and created communication
    infrastructure could successfully accomplish
    various tasks in the field of exercises,
    simulations and analyses.
