Why an endowment fund?

• 2004 possibility to assignate of 2 of the paid
  corporate income tax
• VSE
• Many requests for support and also 2 of the
  corporate income tax
• On the other side many interesting projects the
  applicants of which were not registered
  recipients of 2
• Time pressure concerning the allocation of the
  sum
• No experience with the accounting of non-profit
  organisation and project support

• Upon agreement with Pontis we defined the areas
  to be supported from the endowment fund

• In connection with the flood effects that struck
  especially the areas of the Preov and Koice
  region our company has suspended a few projects
  and decided to channel a bigger part of money for
  social sphere
• Pontis Foundation promptly responded to our
  decision and helped us identify needs of people
  and communities in order to eliminate the flood
  effects
• That is why we decided also on the basis of a
  Pontis recommendation to involve into this
  action two strong partners SCK (Slovak Red
  Cross) and ZMOS (Association of cities and
  municipalities of Slovakia) in order to provide
  for an assistance to the individuals and
  communities municipal property

• Pontis has also defined necessary help despite
  recurring floods in summer in Slovakia there were
  no desiccating devices for drying out the walls.
  Východoslovenská energetika decided to buy those
  as well as pumps in order to withdraw water from
  cellars. These devices were then step by step
  loaned out to the respective families by SCK.
  These devices are now stored in the central
  warehouse near Banská Bystrica and may help
  individuals in cooperation with SCK, if needed.
• Next help for individuals was defined according
  to the SCK requirements provision of
  disinfectants, drinking water
• Within the framework of an assistance given to
  the municipalities the support was being provided
  to the respective communities in cooperation with
  ZMOS according to the applications, which were
  assessed by the commission comprising of the
  representatives of VSE a.s., Pontis and ZMOS

• We helped establish multimedial classrooms for
  language teaching at the Technical university of
  Koice
