Project Status
  • DWAP Status - Alex
  • Issue unable to get from DWAP LAN to
    Infrastructure
  • Reconfigured DWAP to factory settings and started
    from scratch
  • Resources used Monowall guide, ECE 158A,
    Raytheon engineers
  • Final solution was reached NAT not configured
    properly
  • This morning reconfigured both DWAP units to
    operational status
  • Testing Design - Kehinde
  • Received parameters from client
  • Developed testing scenarios as will be shown
    later
  • Will meet with client tomorrow to get more
    direction

DWAP What was the problem?
NAT Network Address Translation
NAT is a way to enable multiple hosts on a
private network to access the Internet using a
single public IP address
Issue In our case, we never told the WAN side
where to connect to hence the LAN side could
not communicate with the outside
9
NAT Solution
SSID DWAP
NETWORK, ASSIGNED STATIC IP
LINKSYS ROUTER OUR DHCP SERVER
UCSD LAB PC
192.168.5.1
192.168.5.100
192.168.1.1
192.168.5.101
Solution We had to map the WAN side
(192.168.5.101) to the LAN side (192.168.1.1).
Once this mapping has been made (manually) there
is translation (NAT) between the laptop (behind
the NAT) and the PC outside the NAT.

Test Design - Preliminary
  • PHASE 1a Remote Clients and 1 DWAP wired in
    lab
  • Linksys router will serve as infrastructure
  • Client remotely connected to infrastructure
    through DWAP
  • Run Bricks and Madi software and measure
    throughput
  • PHASE 1b Remote Clients and 1 DWAP wireless
    in lab
  • PHASE 1c Remote Clients and 1 DWAP wireless
    outside the lab
