The Wheel Assembly

• For the final project in ETME 2202, I chose to
  model a car wheel, tire, wheel hub, brake rotor,
  and brake caliper. The design is not an accurate
  representation for any particular car, it is
  merely a design that was modeled from scratch
  using the many functions of AutoDesk Inventor. I
  chose this design because I have always wanted to
  design a wheel in my drawing classes.

Background

• This wheel assembly was designed with a Lotus
  Elise wheel in mind, yet it shares no dimensions
  with it.
• Throughout the presentation, the wheel may change
  colors from time to time due to the fact that
  different wheel colors are common in the real
  world.

Hub design. The wheel connects directly to the
hub Via four bolt holes.

Brake rotor design. The rotor is cross-drilled
and slotted for efficient heat dissipation To
eliminate brake fade.

Brake caliper design. This brake caliper is
loosely based on a Porsche 911 turbo Brembo
brake caliper.

• The Three bolt designs used to bolt the entire
  assembly together. 4 wheel bolts, 14 rotor/hub
  bolts and 8 caliper bolts were used in the design.
