Epidemiologic situation Important Activities

• No new polio case were reported this week.
• Last polio case was reported from Burao,
  Togdher with date of onset 08/11/2006. It is
  from the same Town of the 5th September case.
• One case is pending ITD from Burao, Togdher with
  date of onset 17/11/2006.
• The performance in Burao has been below standard
  in the last two campaigns where refusal rate is
  the highest in Somalia and there are also
  administrative difficulties. The programme is
  reviewing the situation and preparing a plan to
  address constraints.
• The number of confirmed cases in 2006 is 33.
• The December NID Round was carried out from
  10th-12th December. Few districts were delayed
  due to active fighting or rains. Some of the
  areas were covered before the recent outburst of
  hostilities.
• The date of January Round will be coordinated
  with campaign dates of neighboring countries.
