of how Reflex 8020 can be used to monitor
MultiBatch. The following slides provides a
brief overview of some of the facilities
available.

Reflex 8020 Autodiscovered BMON
Reflex 8020, enables a user to autodiscover a
BMON or BMONS and display the whole batch
schedule within each monitored node, e.g. \LIVE,
\TES1, \GCIS, etc. This screenshot, shows a
small sample of an autodiscovered BMON (BBC1)
and its underlying tree structure. The BMON
tree structure can be expanded further, to
reveal units which have failed, or are reporting
vulnerable alerts, e.g. CA12.RX.01
(U-CA12-RA-UPDATE-A/C-MNG-DUTY) - Warning process
has exceeded maxtime. Exception alerting is the
key, thereby avoiding the need for Operations to
monitor every job, segment or unit on a manual
basis. Reflex 8020 will report UP, DOWN and
VULNERABLE events to the relevant BMON units.
5
Reflex 8020 - BMON Configuration
In this example, the BMON BBC1 tree Structure
displays the underlying Job, Segment and Unit
levels. Segment CA12.RA has been expanded
Further to show a MultiBatch Alias Name
Associated with the unit. This Alias
Name facility provides operations with a brief
description of the units function. The RED
icon indicates that a critical failure has
occurred, e.g. the unit has failed.
6
MultiBatch - EMS Event Reporting
MultiBatch EMS event detail can be
obtained, either at the top level, i.e. BMON, or
at the individual Job, Segment, or Unit
level. This example shows that CA12.RA.01
has failed with Process Create Error. EMS
event token details are fully displayed,
including SSID (MULTIBAT.1.0), Event Number
(12), Status (DOWN), Subject (CA12.RA.01),
Timestamp and Event Text (Process Create
Error).
7
MultiBatch - EMS Event History
Reflex 8020 also stores each EMS event in its
Event History SQL database. Users can peruse
events at all levels, i.e. BMON, Job, Segment, or
Unit level. This event information is also
recorded off-line for SLA reporting and for
interrogation via the MultiBatch Tracking modules.
8
MultiBatch BCOM Unit Detail
Users can utilise the supplied BCOM interface to
obtain detailed configuration at Job, Segment or
Unit level. As demonstrated on the next slide,
Reflex 8020 provides the facility to obtain
the same kind of configuration detail
9
Reflex 8020 Unit Detail
Reflex 8020 provides a MultiBatch status agent
to allow users to obtain detailed configuration
for each individual MultiBatch step. As well as
providing configuration details, the status of
the unit is also displayed.
10
Reflex 8020 TASKS Module
The Reflex 8020 TASKS module, provides the
capability to associate TACL macros, programs,
etc. with various objects (icons) in Status
Monitor. In the example displayed, various
MultiBatch TASKS has been pre-configured, which
run a TACL macro to perform BCOM commands
ABORT, COMPLETE, HOLD, RELEASE, RESTART or
START.
11
Reflex 8020 TASK Execution
By using TASKS, Operations can run the equivalent
BCOM commands, via each individual units
icon. Full Security is provided within Reflex
8020, ensuring only users with the
appropriate access rights can run the various
TASKS. In this example, a TASK to HOLD
the selected unit (CA12.RA.01) is to be
executed. By running TASKS (with appropriate
security), users can execute BCOM commands,
without the need to open a TACL BCOM session.
12
Reflex 8020 TASK Results
The TASKS has completed successfully and the
equivalent BCOM HOLD command has been
completed. The resulting MultiBatch EMS event
has been forwarded to the icon matching the unit
id, in this instance changing the icon to a BLUE
alert (Vulnerable event).
13
MultiBatch GUI STEP Details
This screenshot demonstrates how a user can view
configuration details for an individual BMON
unit. A BMON schedule can be displayed in a
single view, expanding and collapsing the
various levels, e.g. Job, Segment, Unit, Defines,
Assigns, etc. All of the configuration
facilities supplied via the Pathway are also
available via the GUI, e.g. Event-Timer, Status
Overview, BMON, Prepare, Security, etc.
14
MultiBatch GUI JOB Scheduling
Scheduling options are available at Job, Segment
or Unit level parameters can be selected via a
scroll-bar. Dependency options at Job or
Segment level are also available in the same way.
