IMS Archive Project (1)
  • What is this?
  • One stop resource for IMS Chairs their
    committees
  • IMS Handbook, IEEE Meeting Manual, links to IEEE
    conference planning sites, .
  • MOUs -- ARFTG. RFIC, Sponsorship, HH
    responsibilities
  • Past individual IMS information
  • Multiyear summaries / trends (Papers, Attendance,
    Fees, Financials, Hotel,)
  • Long term archive
  • Nearing completion, fairly complete back into
    early 90s
  • Data is disappearing fast due to retirements,
    more frequent job changes,
  • electronic information disappears easier than
    paper
  • Significant inconsistency in data reporting, we
    need to fix that
  • IMS CC needs to decide if additional items should
    be tracked
  • Some data back to 1957 -- of Papers,
    Attendance, basic Fees
  • Thanks to Ted Saad

IMS Archive Project (2)
  • Some interesting trends IMS CC should look
    closer at data
  • of technical attendees appears flat, individual
    event registrations are dropping
  • Technical portion is running at a loss but is
    improving what should target be?
  • Exhibition income flattening??
  • Registration fees have grown at 9 annually
    well above CPI
  • Surplus has been in a window of 400K-600K
    more-or-less (except for 01)
  • Historical surplus was close to 40, what should
    target be?
  • Hotel pickup seems to be worsening plus rates
    are not competitive
  • Papers submitted growing at 7-8 annually (not
    including RFIC)
  • Acceptance percentage holding in the range of
    50-60
  • Interestingly??, Registration Fee / Accepted
Papers ratio fairly constant since 91
  • of Workshops have grown significantly, while
    total attendance is lower
  • Peaks of Average Attendance per Workshop of
    140-150 have dropped to 60s
