Single Inline Memory Modules (SIMMs)

• Now, an outdated form of memory
• Found in older motherboards
• 30-pins or 72-pins
• Must be installed in pairs

Double Inline Memory Modules (DIMMs)

• Most common type of memory
• DDR DIMMs Double Data Rate DIMMs
• PC2100, PC 2600 (2100 MB/sec)
• Can be installed individually

Rambus Inline Memory Modules (RIMMs)

• Higher priced memory found mostly with high end
  machines (P4s)
• Speed gt3200 MB/sec
• Must be installed in pairs

How to Install RAM?

• Turn off and unplug the computer
• Ground yourself to discharge any static
  electricity
• Use screwdriver to remove case
• Locate memory slots

How to Install RAM?

• With ejector clips in the open position, position
  the module over the slot and begin pressing the
  module down into the slot
• You might need to press down pretty hard, but be
  careful not to break the module and make sure it
  is aligned properly to the socket

• As you press down, the module will sink into
  place and the ejector clip will close themselves
  to lock the module into place
