Introduction
  • Communication is one of the basic physical
    infrastructures for economic development and
plays a vital role in stimulating economic growth
and improving the quality of life.
  • Communication is a key to improving family health
    in Bangladesh.

5
Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs
  • Communication (BCC) makes use of an expanding
mass media, new technologies, and new ideas in
communication to influence health and social
    behavior change.

6
The Major role of BCCP
  • Creating awareness,
  • Increasing knowledge
  • Building approval
  • Influencing behavior.

7
BCCPs Areas of Expertise
  • Mass Media
  • Community-Based Programs
  • Enter-educate Approach
  • ARH Skill Development Approach
  • Research and Evaluation

8
Future Program of BCCPs
  • BCCPs experience and expertise, and its long
track record of carrying out innovative programs
and achieving program goals have contributed to
its reputation as the front ranking BCC
    organization in Bangladesh.

9
Telemedicine
  • The term Telemedicine is the delivery of
medicine at a distance. Telemedicine may be as
simple as two health professionals discussing a
case over the telephone, or as complex as using
    satellite technology and video-conferencing
equipment to conduct a real-time consultation
between medical specialists in two different
    countries.

10
Telemedicine
  • About 140 million people living within 144,000
sq. km of land, Bangladesh is one of the most
densely populated countries in the world and
about 80 of the total population of the country
lives in rural areas. With inadequate number of
physicians and urban centric mentality of
available physicians, telemedicine is the crying
    demand of the country.

11
Tele-health System
  • Major Hospital of Diabetic Association of
Bangladesh is linked up with a clinic of Diabetic
Association of Faridpur to give better health
    service to rural people.
  • Patients report can be sent via voice, images
and video from telemedicine consultation center
    (TCC) at Faridpur DAB hospital.
  • Medical advice is offered from a remote location
known as telemedicine specialty center (TSC) in
    Dhaka- by specialized consultant doctors.

12
Sanitation
  • Effective communication of information that will
    change behavior
  • Measures that strengthen local government
  • Education from primary school stage
  • Support for good management of building and
    engineering
  • Reducing arsenic contamination in the water
    supply.

13
Grameen Telecom Project
  • In rural areas where isolation and poor
infrastructural services are often the norm,
    telecommunications can play an extremely
important role in enhancing rural social and
    economic development
  • As every village is having telephone connections,
its very easy for rural people to get connected
to local hospitals and health centers.

14
Cost summaries
  • For programs such as mass media, community based
programs, to develop strategies, and to train
people in the initial investment should be around
    two million dollars.
  • For this grameen telecom project I would like to
invest two million dollars to implement this
    project in a particular district.

15
Cost summaries
  • For telemedicine we should invest around two
    million dollars.
  • So we have to spend around one million dollars
    for sanitation project.
  • The total cost of this entire project will be
    around four million dollars.

16
Conclusion
  • In this technical health report I proposed a cost
effective and efficient method to implement
various program for a district in Bangladesh
  • If we could achieve success then we can connect
rest of the country with this programs using
    communications and information technology.
