Developmental Coordination Disorder
  • Its inevitable. Some kids are just plain bad at
sports. One reason could be due to the fact that
    they have DCDDevelopmental Coordination
    Disorder.
  • These children have difficulties with motor
coordination as compared to other children of the
    same age .
  • Moreover, some children might just lack the
locomotor skills necessary to succeed in a sport.
Therefore they avoid physical activity due to
their lack of skills, while others face social
problems like kids making fun of them.
  • This causes them to have low self-esteem which
makes them unmotivated to persist in challenges.

Developmental Coordination Disorder cont.
  • This can cause major problems later on in life.
Children may have low physical fitness due to
their withdrawal in sport...and this is a major
    problem.

4
Role Models
  • Some children have role models who they look up
to. These role models act as leaders and give
children hope for the future, provide them with
an "I CAN" attitude and motivate children to do
their best. Some children may even try to act
    like their role model.

5
Role Modeling cont.
  • Children learn faster through role models than to
someone they dont look up to.
  • Ultimately, role models can have positive impact
on children as long as they act according to the
    childs beliefs and values.
