• Example in Poland market share of PKP in tonnes
  is about 55, other private railways 45 in
  tonnes,
• Private owned rail companies have got more and
  more access to international operations,

• Separation of infrastructure management and
  operations of trains is advanced, however
  diversified,
• Regulatory bodies have been established,
  independent from rail companies.

Economic crisis is more and more visible

• Volume of goods carried decreases
• Revenues are decreasing
• Investment plans are being verified

  Cohesion Funds is not used effectively

• Governments tend to make budgetary savings,
  cutting investments in railways and subsidies for
  passengers
