HEALTH SITUATION OF FILIPINO CHILDREN

• 3 out of 10 children are suffering from any of
  these conditions
• Iron Deficiency (Anemia-reduced ability to
  learn)
• Iodine Deficiency (Mental retardation, stunting)
• Vitamin Deficiency (Night blindness)
• Underweight, underheight
• An estimated 700,000 children in Manila are
  malnourished, of which, 200,000 are WASTING.
  Wasting is acute malnutrition!

Malnutrition prevalence rate of 5 is considered
of public health significance. - WHO

GOALS

• To spread the Good News by replicating the
  miracle of the multiplication of loaves and
  fishes in our day and show the presence of Jesus
  in our midst.
• To test the viability of the Christian
  communities of each Diocese to actualize the
  Christian proposition that we should love our
  neighbors as ourselves.
• To alleviate hunger of poor children of the six
  Dioceses of Metro Manila.
• To improve their overall health condition of
  anemia, wasting, brain maldevelopment and stunted
  growth.

  Phosphorous,Magnesium,Zinc,etc.

• Distributed by Feed the Children Philippines
  under license by Nourish the Children
  International
• Approved for distribution by BFAD
• Mixed with regular Filipino food to make it a
  POWER MEAL!

• Cost of food per child for 6 months
• Will be jointly raised by Pondo ng Pinoy and
  Dioceses
• Total funds needed to cover 70,000 children is
  P63 Million

What the Diocese/Parish needs to do?

• Identify other Parishes who will be part of the
  expansion
• Create a team of at least 6 persons in those
  Parishes
• Parish Coordinator (1)
• Food Preparation (2)
• Nutritional Assessment (1)
• Education and Support Services (2)
• Open an account in the name of (Name of
  Diocese/Parish - Hapag-asa)
• Prepare for the counterpart through fund raising,
  solicitations, etc.
