The Offshoring Reality
  • Low to mid-level positions, the more mechanical
jobs, are going overseas. Jobs will stay that
    require higher-level computing skills and
specializations and that are critical to
maintaining systems critical to a companys
    business strategies.
  • The government reports that total employment
    among information technology professionals
reached nearly 3.5 million by the end of last
year, surpassing the previous high in 2000, when
the technology investment boom peaked. (New York
Times). Unemployment at only 3 (JIST Works).
  • Confidence in the employment market, job
    security, anticipated hiring, and personal
    finances is up.
  • Survey of 50,000 IT workers says that pay has
actually risen for IT staff working in
    applications development, databases and systems
    administration. (Foote Partners)
  • Growth through 2012 above average growth rate for
other occupations. (Bureau of Labor Statistics)

"The nature of these jobs is not just closing
your door and doing coding. In fact, the
greatest missing skill is somebody who's both
good at understanding the engineering and has
good relationships with the hard-core engineers
and bridges that to working with the customers
and marketing.
- Bill Gates
