- York Region
- AMRC AMO
39Municipal MHSW Task Group (2)
Slide 39
- Task Group provided municipal input during
development following posting of Program Plan - Task Group recognizes
- municipal participation in the MHSW Program
voluntary - plan is good first step in shifting the cost of
managing MHSW from municipal tax base to
industries responsible for their manufacture
sale
40Municipal MHSW Task Group (3)
Slide 40
- But, 2 key items need to be advocated to Minister
with regard to Program Plan
- Ministers Program Request Letter for Phase II
- needs to come quickly
- should include ALL remaining MHSW items, not just
those listed as Phase II - Stewards should be responsible for all MHSW
program costs, not just transportation disposal
41Municipal MHSW Task Group (4)
Slide 41
- In the interim, a few questions which will
hopefully be answered today - what does July 1st mean?
- what are the ramifications of not having a signed
agreement in place by July 1st? - what should municipalities do to assist process?
42Municipal MHSW Task Group (5)
Slide 42
- New plan means lots of questions that need
answers - You are encouraged to ask questions!
- If you prefer submit a written question, present
it to Cynthia Hyland it will be addressed
during QA
